Game

So, I’d never actually beaten Ace Attorney 1. I decided to fix that!

Ace Attorney is an extremely classic and beloved franchise that I really do not need to explain. You play (in the first 3 games at least) as Phoenix Wright, a newbie defense attorney. You defend a motley crew of characters, face off against an intruiging cast of prosecuting attorneys, interrogate and find the hidden truths behind testimonies, and often times topple some kind of conspiracy.

Game

The writing and characters are often the reason to play Ace Attorney, and I don’t disagree. This is, at its core, basically a visual novel with a few little mini games built in. ESPECIALLY this version, which is a suped up version of the GBA game with an additional case tacked on with lots of DS stuff so that you get your DS moneys worth. For Japanese fans who already had the original, it prolly felt like a fun DLC or expansion pack mission. For us fans in America who had never played one of these games before this point, it was really weirdly paced and long compared to the rest of the cases. And also easily ignorable in the context of the series despite seeming to be VERY important (it’s a giant police conspiracy). But that’s fine.

Game

I don’t want to go super in depth about this game, because it comes highly recommended. Every Ace Attorney game has like, 3 fantastic cases and 1 mediocre one, though. And for the most part I really like this game, but it certainly has its slow spots. Case 3 is that, in my opinion, but that’s fine.

I also started Ace Attorney 2, but at the time of writing this, I have not finished it, because I dreaded the fucking clown case so much I never even started it. I really should get around to that one of these days…
