More random MSX games. One thing you need to know about the MSX is that it has a LARGE homebrew scene. People are making games for this thing cosntantly, of all shapes and sizes. A lot of them have the energy of a first project, someone just kinda testing the waters to practice coding. Some of them are really in depth projects, almost indistinguishable from retro games, except for maybe some more modern quality of life.

And then some are shitposts.

Magical Bocco 20541 is a shitpost. It was made by meichnpp in late 2024, so it’s pretty recent. You play as Bocco and her best friend, cat, and go on an adventure to do… something. Honestly you’re mostly wandering around different areas and exploring. The energy is absurdist. The art is incredible. The gameplay is simple but effective. It’s a two-party member RPG.

Game

NPCs are standing around and kind of give SOME lore and vibes, but most of the time you’ll walk up to them and they say “hello!” or something that’s not important, while cat wanders the screen randomly. Basically you want to travel around, pick up chests, and move forward. There’s very simple puzzles.

The main thing setting this game apart from others is its absurdist art style. It’s very MSPaint, and is really charming. There’s some AMAZING enemies you can fight, but I don’t want to spoil them. This game isn’t long, and there’s not a LOT to it, but it’s a cute little thing for a bit of a distraction.
