Game

Now THIS is what I’m talking about!! Snake & Rhino is a homebrew MSX game by ARC8, and it has style for daaaaays. Unbelievably pretty for an MSX game. It’s a simple puzzle game. You’ve got Snake, and you’ve got Rhino. You can control either of them at a time, and you need to get them both to the exit. Sometimes you press switches to open doors. Sometimes you just go to the exit. Simple as that.

They both move a little differently and have a few rules to them. Snake will slide in one direction until something stops him. Rhino can walk to anywhere he wants to go. Snake can climb up and down ladders. Rhino can not. Snake can go over cracks in the floor. Rhino will fall.

All of the letters are cool looking Escher designs. Seriously, this game just makes my neurons light up to look at it. It’s probably the best looking MSX game I’ve seen. I also just really like MC Escher paintings. Y’all ever play Echochrome? Well, anyway.

Snake and Rhino isn’t a very long game. It has around 30 worlds, and it took me just over an hour to complete all of them. There’s a few brain ticklers in there, but for the most part you’ll be able to get through with no problem, while wanting just a bit more.
