Retro Achievement Mastery 214 - Hello Kitty Magical Museum
I love Tennis

I have often said, publicly and privately, that the Gameboy Color is one of the worst systems in terms of averages. I can think of like, 4 must play games. Meanwhile, 40% of the library are things like this. Weird cashgrab media tie-ins.
That’s not to downplay the power of Hello Kitty. She’s a multimedia empire for a reason. But even though there have been countless Hello Kitty videogames, and some are actually kinda good, how many people are REALLY chomping at the bit for more? You MIGHT get something good. Or you could get something like this, which is clearly designed to sell more Hello Kitty merch.

This is a very simple game where you have a maze with balls moving around that’ll hurt you and make you reset. You need to pick up all the objects and then reach the exit. That’s it. Dodge the very easy and simple timing puzzles. At the end, you’re rewarded with an image of Hello Kitty.

My favorite one I saw was this. Hello Kitty with a tennis racket with a shirt that PROBABLY is supposed to say “I Love Tennis”, but is NOT centered correctly for her to say “I love Tennis” so it looks very suspiciously like something else.
This game isn’t BAD. But it’s not really much of anything. I’d say it’s best for very young children obsessed with Hello Kitty, and no one else. Or people who collect Sanrio merch.
Also hello, I stopped making these for a few months cause I kind of burned out on Retro Achievements, but I’m slowly getting back to it so it’s time to finish my backlog.
