Retro Achievement Mastery 231 - Pokemon Mini Ambulation
Wee woo wee woo

This one might take a little bit of explanation actually

First of all, what is a Pokemon Mini? Well, it was a tiny handheld game console made by Nintendo around the turn of the century that had a bunch of micro games on it. They’re mostly things like… Pokemon Zany Cards, which I’ve already mastered, and is just a collection of card games. It’s got like, just a beep sound effect, a very tiny screen (as you can see from the images I have from it), and no color. It is the most budget of budget consoles. But it’s a Pokemon product, so of course it was still a big deal.
And it gets homebrew.
Ambulation is a word meaning movement, essentially. And this is what this game is about. Ever play Frogger? Cause it’s just Frogger.

You have 8 characters to choose from, who play exactly the same but it’s cute to have a wide variety. Then you just… play endless frogger. You move up across moving platforms and dodging cars. As you move, it generates a new type of terrain at random. This means that you can be moving up and suddenly have three or four rivers in a row with lilypads, in which case, you are 100% fucked. That shit is evil.
Luckily the set doesn’t expect you to get very far. You need a score of 50 which is… fine.
Your choice of Pokemon to play as are genuinely nuts. And it’s also REALLY nuts, because two of the choices are MY TWO FAVORITE POKEMON. They’re not super popular mons, or very important in general, so it’s really weird. This is mainly the reason I played this, for the hubrice, the GUMPTION.
The 8 pokemon on display are Bulbasaur, Omanyte, Dragonair, Dunsparce, Nincada, Absol, Entei, and Regice. Dunsparce is my #2, Dragonair is my #1, just in case you were wondering. Not unloved by any means, but not exactly Charizard, are they?
And uh, that’s it. There’s like 3 different kinds of terrain, dirt, road, and river, play an endless mode of Frogger that kind of hates you. Look, it’s homebrew on the Pokemon Mini. This is basically whatcha get.
