Game

For the first time in this series, I’m rolling two masteries into one post. Why? Cause they’re the same thing, and they’re things we’ve seen already.

Again, they added in multiset support, so I could do a subset of a game as I did the main game. This means I can knock out two birds with one stone in some situations. Obviously I wouldn’t be able to do a subset like, a glitch set or a low% at the same time, but something like this? Which is just play the game slowly? Yeah I can do that, that’s no problem.

Game

I used to play a LOT of Yellow as a kid, and so this was a nice blast from the past. And hell, I’ve done Prof Oak Challenge twice now for gen 1, so this was no big deal. Just another way to chill watching videos while doing grinding. Where it REALLY became an issue were the later achievements for doing stuff with only Pikachu.

Pikachu is not actually a very good Pokemon. And we don’t have a lightball.

I don’t have that much more to add, but I WILL note, there IS another subset for Pokemon yellow! Yes, the Shiny Pokemon subset. What, you might say? Yellow has no shiny Pokemon. And you’d be right! But the way shinies were determined in gen 2 was based on a value that IS generated in gen 1. So the idea would be, you can capture a Pokemon in Yellow, then trade it forward to Silver/Gold, and it can be shiny.

There is a subset for that. It is actual hell. Cause not only are you shiny hunting every Pokemon in the game but you can’t fucking see if they’re shiny or not easily.

And that’s ignoring SAFARI ZONE.

There’s an achievement for capturing a wild shiny dragonair in Safari Zone. Now, Dragonair is my favorite Pokemon of all time. Perfect creature, no notes. But uh, considering it’s a 5% find in the zone its in, and it has like 1/8000 odds, AND you gotta catch it with bullshit 10% catch rate nonsense in the Safari Zone? You’re fucked. The top comment says it took then 297k Dragonair. Good fucking luck.

I’ll stick to playing Yellow the normal way. Getting all Pokemon you can before the next gym!
